Cervus Fugitivus

"I've returned to writing poetry after having published fairly extensively on contemporary poetics and the philosophy of language and of intentionality. My recent poetry will be appearing in upcoming issues of Tamafyhr Mountain Poetry and These!."

We followed its tracks
through the dull earth
imprints in mud
leading down the gulley
and then up again.

The body is stitched
to the shadow
buff to grey
the composite we call "deer."

White tail up
hooves to the dirt
nose to the mist
simulacrum of aether
where the brown fur
disappears.
