Illuminations

Charlene is a prolific writer, having had not only her poetry previously published, but theater reviews and columns as well (many here in Turbula). She's contributed to everyone from Investor's Business Daily to the La Jolla Village News. She was also a contributor to "Chicken Soup for the Volunteer's Soul."

All this life long
In one way or another
I've been hanging myself on the wall.
Oh, there are certain, back-of-gallery works
I'd rather leave enshrouded:
The unflattering poses,
The splayed legs and arms,
The face, ribboned with streaks of dirt and tears and blood.
It's all there, the work I've done,
And time at last to open the gallery,
Remove the shrouds,
Admit the light.
