It's the Paws

Charlene is a prolific writer, having had not only her poetry previously published, but theater reviews and columns as well (many here in Turbula). She's contributed to everyone from Investor's Business Daily to the La Jolla Village News. She was also a contributor to "Chicken Soup for the Volunteer's Soul."

I am a person
who goes through life
with paw prints
at the hemline
of her slacks
simply because
the dog approached
in a friendly way.

His tongue was pink and soft;
his coat, silky; his underbelly,
a mixture of earth and dew.
He was all wags and wiggles.
One must avoid the paws.
Nothing washes out their residue.
