At your house
I get to sleep
on the cot made up
especially for me,
in your room,
near your bed-
a safe place.

I want to crawl
beneath your musky
housecoat,
to see the thin skin
of your bra, slack
under the weight
of aging breasts,
to ask protection
from your daughter-
the one they call
my mother.
